We are a Houston-based nonprofit with the mission of transforming social services into a more connected, empathetic and accessible system.

Meet Connective

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, recovery assistance was difficult to navigate and left those most in need with more questions than answers.

Applications got lost, eligibility requirements were unclear and case managers felt the pressure of an overwhelmed system, despite philanthropic funds flowing into the area.

We envisioned a streamlined system to connect those in need with those offering help — without getting caught up in red tape.

We launched an online portal where residents completed single assistance applications, were screened for eligibility and connected to vetted home repair services. Together with home repair agencies, the Harvey Home Connect pilot has facilitated more than 1,000 home repairs since its launch.

We envision a future in which disaster strikes and there is no emergency; a future in which social services are human-centered and accessible to those that need them most.

Our collective success positioned us to play a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’ve since partnered with local organizations, governments and nonprofits to innovate solutions to other complex social problems, such as eviction coordination and public benefits access.
